Meet Our Team

Don Bowers

Don is our ultimate cabinet craftsman, bringing over 40 years experience to Hancock Homes. Don discovered his passion for woodworking in the fifth grade thanks to a talented and dedicated industrial arts teacher. He began his career at West Cove Boat Yard in Sorrento, Maine and Spencer Boat Yard in West Palm Beach, Florida where he learned the art of boat building and ultra fine cabinetry.

Don is also a licensed real estate broker. His extensive knowledge of the local area will be an asset when looking for your perfect property.

Don is an avid photographer and sailor. When he's not in the cabinetry shop he enjoys spending time on his boat with his wife Jeri and their German shepherd Acadia.

Dean Bowers

Dean brings over 40 years of design-build and management experience to Hancock Homes. In 1979 Dean joined his brother Don in starting Hancock Homes. Their first house project was to build their parents retirement home in Hancock.... the pressure was on!

In 1984 Dean left his regional management position with Ames Department Store to work for Hancock Homes full time. The rest they say is history.

Dean enjoys the challenges of running a small business and the opportunity to constantly learn and evolve. What he enjoys most about his job is working with family, (Including the loyal employees of Hancock Homes) meeting new customers and making their dreams come true.

Sherry Bowers

Sherry joined our team in 2004. She is your first point of contact with us and manages the day to day details of the office. She is also part of our design team and is fully trained in Chief Architect Design Software.

Prior to joining Hancock Homes, Sherry spent more than 25 years managing a successful multi-faceted business - all while raising a family! Her extensive expertise and many talents keep our office running smoothly.

Sherry enjoys spending time with her family, decorating cakes, gardening around the home she shares with her husband Dean, and the rare opportunity when they can sneak away to go fly fishing.

Dave Brenton

Dave began working with Hancock Homes in 2000 and is an integral part of our construction team. Born and raised in the Hancock area, Dave graduated from Sumner High School and attended Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute.

When not working Dave enjoys spending time with his wife Darlene, his family and their dogs. Their hobbies include gardening and going to car shows.

Andy Hanf

Andy has been with Hancock Homes since 2004. In addition to being one of our lead carpenters, Andy is also a trained member of our design team.

Andy graduated from Ellsworth High School and received a degree in Business Finance from University of Maine, Orono. He first became interested in carpentry while working with his Dad to build their family camp in northern Maine and renovating their 1800's era colonial home in Ellsworth.

Andy was a member of the Maine Army National Guard and spent a year serving with his unit in Iraq. When he's not at work you'll find him heading north with his wife Tiffany and their two beautiful children enjoying the outdoors.

Mac McElwain

Mac Joined the Hancock Homes family in 2018. Mac's first experience with carpentry was renovating the house he bought with his brother in 2012. Mac's step-father, Barrett, a lifelong carpenter, helped show him the basics.

After a brief and unproductive college career, Mac worked a variety of manual labor and restaurant jobs. Mac eventually whittled his myriad of hands-on hobbies down to woodworking. When faced with the opportunity to turn a side job as a graphic designer into a career in the IT field, Mac had a moment of reckoning, and instead followed his heart to Hancock Homes.

Outside of work, Mac and his partner, Hayley, enjoy gardening, home improvements, and spending time with their 2 kids.

Nick Rome

Nick grew up in a military family and traveled the world. He graduated from Port Huron High School in Michigan after which he served in the Army including a tour of duty in Iraq during Desert Storm. He was honorably discharged as a Sargent after eight years of service.

He spent seven years working in the tech industry before moving back to Maine where he met his wife Beth. Nick decided to return to the building trades and joined our team in 2015.

When not at work he is busy with family activities centered around his two school age daughters and traveling down east to visit family and friends.

Brady Ryan

Brady joined Hancock Homes in 1998 and is currently a job site supervisor. Born and raised on Mount Desert Island. Brady graduated from Ellsworth High School and the Hancock County Vocational Center where he received training as a diesel technician.

After running his own garage for a few years he decided to go back to his true love of carpentry, instilled in him from working many years with his father and grandfather.

Brady has a deep love of nature and for the Maine woods. When he's not working for Hancock Homes, Brady loves spending time exploring the natural world with his wife Bonnie, their three beautiful children, and their Huskies.

Buddy

Buddy is really your first point of contact at the Hancock Homes office! If he's not hooked and sleeping under Dean's desk, he will often greet you at the top of the stairs...he has a fierce bark but his tail will be wagging and he will have a toy in his mouth ready to play with whoever enters.

If you don't appreciate the attention of dogs, no worries, we always check before we let him meet anyone.
